Obama

On NPR recently, I listened to a woman from the a special interest group talk about going to Washington to ensure that Obama made good on his campaign promises. It first struck me as selfish and ridiculous when thing are so dire. Then, I realized how absolutely vital her act was. Later that day on a Leave No Trace Government Affairs call with representatives from the National Park Service, US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Land Management, we discussed the the potential Leave No Trace opportunities with the new cabinet.

When the floor of our economy seems to drop further away from us everyday, ensuring that our very specific needs are being met, immediately, can seem totally irrelevant. However, the things so many of us care about are shared. Environment and the power of Leave No Trace education have an essential place at the table, in my mind.

So, we take some deep breaths and push!
