If you're like me, the thought of the taking the bus as a means to lower your carbon footprint is highly appealing... and oddly unnerving. How do you figure out the transportation of your own city, let alone a foreign one where you might be visiting? With transfers, multiple routes, time tables, etc. taking the bus can be an adventure in its own right.
If you have similar apprehension, you should check out Google Maps new "Transit Layer" feature. Over 50 cities around the world are part of this new application, including my hometown area of Boulder/Denver. This is one of the easiest ways I've found to navigate my own city, and retain a semi-savvy look about me when I'm visiting others.
To check it out, or view a list of all cities covered, go to Google Maps and click on the "More" button. Then select the "Transit" tab. Or, you visit the page directly.
You never know what adventure awaits you on your next bus trip - good luck!
