Why did you need to show your board the power of social media. Were they doubting it? If so, did increasing your numbers by X in a period of time change their minds? I don't understand this call to action.

We launched this quick call to action to illustrate the efficiency of social media, more specifically Twitter, to our BOD. The most significant aspect of the experiment is that our call to action was retweeted over 75 times in a 24 hour time period, and, in theory, reached over 28,000 (!) people with our call to action.

For our BOD to see the far reaches of Twitter in one day was significant for many Board Members, particularly because social media is a relatively low-cost marketing opportunity that create conversation, participation and connectedness for the Center.

Yes, we wanted to increase our number of followers, but we also wanted to see how far and wide we could send the information. We thing reaching over 28,000 people in a day is fantastic!

A great question!
