Leave No Trace sightings

I see Leave No Trace signage in lots of diverse places around the globe. Not that I’m globetrotting these days – I guess I hear more about sightings from many people out there enjoying nature. I did have an interesting sighting recently and one you might find unexpected. It was at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, CO. Not only is this zoo pretty incredibly for viewing wildlife at amazingly close distances – see giraffes at right.

(I realize that is counter to the Leave No Trace principle of Respect Wildlife but zoo’s might be the exception – or maybe it’s not considered wildlife in the zoo…)

In any case, as we strolled along paved walkways taking in the various animals and their surroundings, I came upon the sign below.

A wonderful yet unexpected place to promote Leave No Trace but most appropriate in my opinion.
